Hello, it is Kutlay known as kutlayus. I have always struggled with introducing myself but I will do my best to tell you what I have been doing, what excites and moves me, and why I have this website.

I was born in 1998 in Ankara/Turkey, however, my family moved to Istanbul when I was 3 and I have spent most of my transformative years in Istanbul. I have to admit that Istanbul greatly impacts how I perceive things since the city holds so many realities all at once. I moved to the Netherlands in the winter of 2023 and have lived in Amsterdam ever since.

Unlike what is presented on this website, I have been working as a lawyer in both Turkey and the Netherlands for about two years. I graduated from Bilkent University Faculty of Law, though, in hindsight, I may have unconsciously tested myself by choosing a field that is seemingly the farthest from drawing. However, while I was doing my Master's at Tilburg University on Technology Law, I had an opportunity to a build bridge between my passion and law by writing a thesis on image generative AI models and their copyright issues.

 

Meanwhile, drawing has always been with me, through every chapter of my journey. Even as I studied and practiced law, my drawings found their place in the corners of law books, on study notes, and anywhere I could sketch paper, desks, walls, streets, you name it.

I have been feeling stuck for a long time between being a lawyer and an artist. Since there is a huge world out there telling you who you are, and who you need to be, it was hard to navigate my path in those days. Thankfully, I have met with great people who encouraged me to follow the itch I have. The more I followed more I discovered about myself and my perception about life. Yet, I have discovered all the things I was feeling are glimpses of inspiration waiting to be transformed into something. ​Here, I finally decided to bring you what I've transformed.
